About
Roman Ark is an American indie folk project originally from the Pacific Northwest but currently based out of Salt Lake City, Utah.
With influences like The Lumineers, Ani DiFranco, Bruce Springsteen, Noah Kahan, and Zach Bryan, he has found a home writing about authentic experiences and lived in stories. You can currently find him recording his songs in his small home studio/laundry room and performing live whenever he can.
The name Roman Ark is a sub-anagram of the artist's real name Mark Romney. Mark released a full length CD, a 6 song EP, and toured extensively in the early 2000's under his given name. But as often happens, expectations and fear led Mark to make decisions that took him away from making music.
While much of the world was hurting during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mark's passion for making and performing music was reignited and a flood of music came out of this. With a renewed love and passion for his art, he felt a need to create a new identity to help him connect with others.
While Mark is naturally very private, with Roman Ark he holds little back. Drawing from the well of life's experiences, Roman Ark's lyrics and melodies create a space where it's ok to be vulnerable, honest, and searching for meaning.
