Ever feel like you have so much going on you are trapped in a box? That’s how I felt after we moved and then had christmas and then I got sick and missed new years and well I am just now resurfacing. Sorry. anyway I need to get better at the whole blogging thing.

Working on some new stuff that I like doing. Logos, websites and more clothes. Super excited about the new GIV stuff as well as a new brand called No Love Lost you will all hear about soon I am sure.

Anyway here are some things I am currently happy about.

I am alive and not coughing any more. I am in Seattle and it is cold and wonderful this week. Cohen has learned to roll over and really is the cutest baby in the world( I would enter him in contests if I thought it was appropriate…hmm maybe modeling?). Mandy is happy…so I am happy.

Snow and Now…

December 3rd, 2007 by tourist

Saturday was amazing with snow. I loved it. Made those child feelings come sprouting out of my grown up gut and into my head.

Visited with new friends at Heavy Manners and then onto some GIV work with PeterB up on the Queen Anne Hill.

Got some good Thai food while the cold and snow came down on everyone outside. As I got to my car I realized I had more than an inch covering it and I though how not so fun the drive home would be.

You see it seems no one in Seattle knows how to react/drive in rain nor snow and they slow to unbelievable speeds while on the clean concrete of the freeway. It drives me nuts. The road is wet not a sheet of ice….errrrrrrr!

On Sunday it began to rain and it hasn’t stopped since. I am working on some TB stuff and thinking again how commuting down to Tacoma might be my own personal hell for the next 2 weeks until the Fam and I get to move into the new digs.  Which is only 2 miles from my day time position that will be nice….very nice.

Time is not on my side…for now

  • Here are a few digits.
  • 14.5 - The amount of hours I drove on Sunday to get back to Tacoma so that I could drive my car instead of borrowing my wonderful Aunt Susan's Car.
  • 1.35 - The amount of hours it takes to get to my parking place from Aunt Susan and Uncle Jerry's house in Tacoma.
  • 9 - The amount of hours I spend at the current Job.
  • 15 - The amount of minutes I walk at lunch.
  • 1.15 - the amount in hours that it takes to get home after work.
  • 5:45 - The hour at which I get up so that it only takes an hour and a half to get to my parking spot.
  • 6:30 - The hour at which I leave to work. If I leave 15 - 20 minutes later it will take me 2 hours to get to work.
  • 9 - The amount of days until I see my wonderful Wife and Son again.

Masks of life?

November 19th, 2007 by tourist

So these are a trio of paintings I started today. Thought I would share with the world on here.  An idea I had while sitting in a pew at church. We all put on masks in our lives and while thinking about that I thought about people in the world that seem to have a mask on everyday…the homeless, models(some would say), and night-walkers.  So that’s the idea in less than a nutshell.

Big week starting yesterday. Week of giving thanks here in the good ol’ USofA and I have much to give thanks about. We’ll have a big write up on that on wednesday as I will take the thursday-sunday off from writing.  But yeah think about your life, your genes, your lineage and what they sacrificed for you…it’s ok to think heavy sometimes.

The catwalk was made of white.

So last night my good friend Logan invited me to a fashion show put on by one Mr. Richard Blayne. Blayne went to the same school as Logan and I. He kept this project in the shadows until last night…

The line was called Kingdom Culture and overall left a nice impression. My favorite piece was this pair of women’s corduroy trousers that were pretty amazing with a great fit and higher waistline. Be on the look out for those as I heard a few buyers say later on that they wanted to order up some pairs for their stores and for themselves! Good job Blayne.

Fashion is an interesting thing…is it art? Maybe sometimes.

How to start?

November 15th, 2007 by tourist

thebeginning.jpg

Today is the beginning for me in many different ways. Starting a new job, about to be living in a new place, starting this blog. New feels nice but also like there is a bit of a cliff, just to my right, and someone might try to push me today.

Sitting in Tacoma right now and it is the perfect stereotype day for the puget sound area. Grey skies, a little mist in the morning, a billowing chance of rain for the whole day. I don’t know why but I like that. Seriously after a few years of California sunshine I have missed my cold weather. I have missed bundling up in winter. Wearing scarves at night. The possibility of a light snow as we walk from the restaurant…ok so it barely, rarely ever snows in Seattle but seriously I love the fall through winter months up in the Pacific North West.

I dream that my ancestors were mountain folk who pushed through the snows and cold and loved it. I have the hairy arms and body fat that clings to me as I try to work it off as a reminder. They were the beginning of me and my loves. Now my loves grow with the coming cold months. Cohen is almost 3 months old. He talks alot. Not that we understand but he really likes to gabber. I bet he will have hairy arms and well he already is a chubby dude.

So he too will probably love it here.
